Born on 11 October 1942, Amitabh Bachchan turns 77 years old this year. Of those seven decades, five of them have been spent becoming the Bollywood legend we know today. He made his film debut in Saat Hindustani in 1969 and won his first Filmfare award for Best Actor in 1977 for Amar Akbar Anthony. He was awarded a Padma Shri, and made a short-lived foray into politics too.

In honour of his birthday, Saksham Verma, an illustrator, graphic designer and muralist, has planned a tribute project. Named after one of his iconic films, Satte Pe Satta, it captures 77 characters he has played throughout his career through 77 illustrations, from Antony Gonsalves and Sholay’s Jai to Auro from Paa.
