How Heatwaves Are Widening Social Gaps

How Heatwaves Are Widening Social Gaps

Climate change and extreme temperatures are no longer premonitions, but rather the ‘new normal'. Parts of the world, including northern India, have been grappling with record-breaking high temperatures and back-to-back heatwaves this year. Unfortunately, according to experts, the situation is only set to get worse in the coming years. Extreme heat impacts some groups more drastically than others. Who are the people most impacted by climate change, and what of them? How has it altered lives, and how can we mitigate the health risks?

The Quint is bringing forth lesser-told stories of those who are enduring the long-term impact of extreme heat. Through this series, we seek to examine the systemic alternations required to safely adapt the population to this change. This project requires our reporters to travel extensively and brave extreme conditions to bring you stories that other media will not. Support us so we can explore the impact of this climate crisis on India's most vulnerable.
