A Pregnant Woman Tests Positive For HIV Post Blood Transfusion

A pregnant woman in Tamil Nadu tested positive for HIV after a blood transfusion process in a government hospital.

The Madras High Court on Thursday took suo motu cognisance of an incident in which a pregnant woman in the state of Tamil Nadu tested positive for HIV after a blood transfusion process was performed to treat her anaemia.

The incident is a shocking alarm against the unreliable screening process at the government hospital in Sattur in Sivakasi district.
