The survey divided the participants in three age bands, namely, children (5-9 years) teenagers (10-14 years) and adolescents (15-18 years). It concluded that there was a difference in the manner boys and girls dealt with obesity when it came to mingling with their peers.

While a large percentage of obese girls faced problems in mingling with their peers, for boys the percentage was as high as 100 percent.

Obesity also had an adverse impact on the emotional well-being of children who found themselves being less sociable and more irritable.

Additionally, the survey concluded that stories of obesity with adverse effects or weight loss stories of celebrities motivate children to lose weight.
