This day is celebrated to help people realise the role of dreams in our lives.

It is not a forced or planned event but something that happens almost unconsciously.

We need to take some time out and try to understand what is it that we want deep down ?

Dreams help us to understand our aspirations in a better way, they are a visuals to our future.

Why Have a World Dream Day?

Dream day was created by an instructor at Columbia University, US, in the year 2012. Her name was Ozioma Egwuonwu, a transformational educator and strategist who had created this day with an aim to 'heal and 'inspire humanity'.

We all are witness to the magic a dream can hold.

In fact, every invention, every song, every notable achievement was once a dream.

Like Martin Luther King Junior had once said in his speech, "I have a dream." He had a dream to end racism and he didn't only work towards that dream but dedicated his whole life in the fight against racism.

It is important that we understand that dream is something that has a meaning, helps us bring in a change or inspires others to dream too. Dreams cannot be something that is a personal gain or achievement like 'losing weight' or 'getting a promotion'.

Dreams must have the power of being selfless and thinking not only about us and our closed ones but about the society and world as a whole. According to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, dreams are transformed into thoughts which are then transformed into actions.

So, dreams are like the seeds that can grow into a tree and become your reality. So, dream big and have the courage and determination to work towards it.
