In a series of tweets, Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel opened up about traumatic experiences from her past as she suffered a severe acid attack at the hands of a person whose proposal she had refused. She shared an old picture of herself, and revealed that the attack took place shortly after that picture was taken. To recover from it, she required 54 surgeries over a span of five years.
The physical and emotional ordeal she went through after the experience can perhaps never be fully understood. She tweeted that her face had been damaged beyond complete repair.
“I had lost one eye and had a retina transplant. Doctors took skin patches from all over my body and grafted my severely damaged breast. During breastfeeding Prithu, I had many complications.”Rangoli
Even after five years, doctors have not been able to reconstruct her ear, as is visible in the image she posts.
She credits her family, friends and husband to help her recover from this experience and the years of treatment and surgeries that followed. “I don’t know what to say. Honestly, I had given up on my life. My husband, back then a normal friend, washed my wounds and waited outside operation theatres for years. My sister and my parents collectively breathed life into me. Can’t take credit for what my life is today.”
