The emergence of a multi-drug resistant fungus called Candida Auris, which breeds in hospital environments and preys on people with weaker immunity, has become a major public health concern lately.
While its origins are still uncertain, a paper published in the journal mBio discusses the possible link between global warming and climate change with the spread of this infection — which was first reported in Japan. It now has now made its way across the globe, with cases being reported in India, Pakistan, United Kingdom, Spain and South Africa.
