Sunaina Roshan’s partner Ruhail Amin has come out in support of her claims that Hrithik Roshan and the rest of her family isn’t accepting of him since he is Muslim. On 20 June, Sunaina alleged in an interview that her father Rakesh Roshan slapped her and branded her partner a terrorist because he was Muslim. “Last year, I fell in love with a journalist, Ruhail Amin, but neither my father nor Hrithik approved of the relationship. My father slapped me and said he was a terrorist,” she told Pinkvilla.
In an interview with News 18, Ruhail called the Roshans’ alleged behaviour “unfortunate”. “Labelling someone extremist just because he/she belongs to a certain religion is simply outrageous and needs to be condemned in strongest words,” he said.
“This incident has once again exposed the dark underbelly of identity politics at play in today’s liberal times which are totally uncalled for,” Ruhail added. He backed up Sunaina’s allegations that her family does not approve of their relationship and claimed that her parents “put a security ring around her” when they learned of their friendship. He also pointed out the hypocrisy of the Roshans saying that no one had a problem when Hrithik was married to Suzanne Khan. “Everyone can see the irony here,” he said.
Ruhail says that he has been in touch with Sunaina. “She wants to restart her life on a positive note and wants her family to support her decisions," he told the publication.
Sunaina also told Pinkvilla that she has approached Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel for support.
In a series of tweets posted on 19 June, Rangoli claimed that Sunaina has been calling Kangana and sobbing on the phone. “Her family is physically assaulting her because she is in love with a Muslim man from Delhi. Last week they got a lady cop who slapped her, her father also hit her, her brother is trying to put her behind bars,” she alleged.
Hrithik Roshan’s cousin Eshaan Roshan and former wife Suzanne Khan have both come out in support of the actor and his family.
