Vinod Khanna's First Wife Geetanjali Dead

Late Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna's first wife Geetanjali, mother to actors Akshaye Khanna and Rahul Khanna, is no more, family sources said on Sunday.

Geetanjali died on Saturday night.

According to family sources, she suffered uneasiness and then chest pain at her bungalow. She was rushed to a hospital where she succumbed late at night.

The funeral was held in Alibaug on Sunday afternoon.

Geetanjali had attended Vinod Khanna's funeral last year.

The actor had married Geetanjali in 1971. They divorced in 1985, after which Vinod Khanna married Kavita.

'The Big Lebowski' Actor Jeff Bridges To Receive Cecil B. DeMille Award

Actor Jeff Bridges will receive the Cecil B. DeMille award at the 76th Golden Globes on 6 January 6, 2019. Bridges has starred in legendary films like The Big Lebowski, Crazy Heart, True Grit and The Fabulous Baker Boys.

"The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) is delighted to bestow the 2019 Cecil B. DeMille Award on Jeff Bridges," HFPA president Meher Tatna said in a statement to Variety.com. "Bridges' brilliant body of work across diverse genres has captured the hearts and minds of audiences worldwide for more than six decades. We look forward to celebrating ‘The Dude' and his remarkable career and philanthropic achievements at the upcoming Golden Globe Awards," he said.

Bridges' first Golden Globe nomination came in 1984 for best actor in Starman. Seven years later he received his second Golden Globe nomination for his performance in The Fisher King. In 2001, he received another Golden Globe nomination for his role in The Contender. In 2017, he received another Golden Globe nomination for best supporting actor as a retiring Texas Ranger in Hell or High Water.

Chosen by the HFPA Board of Directors, the Cecil B. DeMille Award is given annually to a talented individual who has made a lasting impact on the world of entertainment. Honorees over the decades include George Clooney, Robert De Niro, Audrey Hepburn, Robin Williams, Oprah Winfrey and many more.

Saira Banu Requests Meeting With PM Modi Over Property Dispute

Veteran actor Saira Banu on Sunday, 16 December requested a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, following the release of builder Samir Bhojwani who had been arrested for usurping her and veteran superstar Dilip Kumar’s Pali Hill bungalow.

A post from Dilip Kumar's official Twitter handle read: "Request from Saira Banu Khan: The Hon'ble PMO India, Shri Narendra Modi sir, land mafia Samir Bhojwani released from jail. No action taken despite assurances by (Maharashtra) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Padma Vibhushit betrayed, threatened by money and muscle power. Request meeting with you in Mumbai."

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Monday, 17 December that he will speak to legendary actor Dilip Kumar and his family to allay their fears over a property issue involving a city-based builder.

'Saaho' to Release on Independence Day, 2019

Baahubali star Prabhas' new film Saaho will hit the screens on the Independence Day on August 15 next year.

The release date was announced via a statement.

The film, also starring Shraddha Kapoor, is being shot in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu simultaneously. It promises to provide a pan-India appeal.

Karan Johar Won’t Make Another Chikni Chameli; Katrina Kaif Reacts

The #MeToo movement, which began with Tanushree Dutta, has shaken up the film industry and many are vowing to create a better environment for women as well as better content.

In an interview with Anupama Chopra, Karan Johar spoke about the objectification of women in item songs. The director-producer has gone on record and stated that Dharma Productions will not feature any item song like ‘Chikni Chameli’ anymore. He also added that while ‘Desi Girl’ is not an item song, it’s songs that do not further the plot and are simply planted as a means to draw audiences in theatres will not be made under his banner.
