The hit music composer and singer duo of Pritam Chakraborty and Arijit Singh is back together with a soulful rendition in the form of ‘Khairiyat’ from the film Chhichhore. The lyrics have been written by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

The song, which dropped on 3 September, talks about love and longing and depicts the college romance between Shraddha Kapoor and Sushant Singh Rajput, who seem to be maintaining a distance from each other despite being in love.

Pritam and Arijit Singh have worked together several times and delivered some beautiful hit romantic songs like ‘Channa Mereya’ from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, ‘Phir Le Aya Dil’ from Barfi, ‘Raabta’ from Agent Vinod, ‘Yaariyan’ from Cocktail, ‘Kabira’ from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, ‘Itni Si Baat Hain’ from Azhar, among others.

While ‘Khairiyat’ is probably not at the same level as some of their best collaborations, its still a lovely breezy composition with good lyrics.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Chhichhore follows the story of seven college students, played by Sushant Singh Rajput, Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Sharma, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Naveen Polishetty, Tushar Pandey and Saharsh Shukla, and how they reunite years later when Sushant-Shraddha’s child is fighting for his life.
