Dear India,

We are in the 2018th year after Jesus' birth, and there has been humans on the earth from many more years before him. We have developed a lot in different fields but what about our thinking? Has our thinking advanced with time or has it got worse?

I believe the situation has got worse from ancient history to mediaeval history then we grew in modern history and now, we are again on a downfall. We fight for respect but don't respect our women. We want growth but we destroy each other for religion. Is religion more important than lives? Or respect more precious than happiness?

India was made in 1947, and the Constitution was made after getting over all the odds of religion and caste. India fought to attain her Independence. The leaders who made it possible thought of a developed India which would be a peaceful place to live. But are we living in that India our forefathers dreamt of? The India we live in is where women are raped but huge rallies and protest are held for a movie to protect a woman’s honour (who may or may not have existed).

The India we live in has lost her voice. Our freedom of speech is curtailed. Instead of uniting we are dividing ourselves. Instead of building a strong India, we are wasting our time and energy over frivolous matters.

So guys wake up! Let’s build India the one our forefathers wished for.

Love,
Nida Saqib
