Won’t Let Injustice Happen, Irani Tells Agitating NIT Students

The HRD Ministry sent a two-member team to NIT Srinagar campus on Wednesday, following clashes among students. Tensions were high after students fought over the Indian cricket team’s loss against West Indies in the World T20 Cup last week.

The campus saw unrest again on Tuesday, with outstation students saying that they felt unsafe in the campus. The newly-formed Mehbooba Mufti government has assured complete security to students from other states.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also called up Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and discussed the situation with her.
