Winding up his two-day visit to Meghalaya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tried his hand at beating the Khasi traditional drum along with local tribal musicians on 28 May.

The Prime Minister showed interest in the rhythm and beat a tune with the other Khasi tribal musicians.

On his visit to the state, the Prime Minister also met leaders from around 10 Himas (previously independent Khasi states) and expressed interest in the sacred forest groves and the methods in which they were protected by the native community.

The Prime Minister was in the state to address at the 65th plenary session of th eNorth Eastern Council and participated in a public reception in the city on Friday.
