The facilities given to senior citizens are of no use. I went to three banks but none of them had cash.

I did not face any problems. The process went on quite smoothly. The bank staff were very cooperative.

These were some of the responses of senior citizens standing outside banks on Saturday, after they were exempted from a decision by the Indian Bank Association (IBA) restricting access to banks for the day.

In the context of long queues outside banks weighing down heavily on the senior citizens post the Modi government’s demonetisation decision, the IBA had announced that the exchange facility for the invalid currency notes would be exclusively available for their own customers and senior citizens on Saturday.

The Quint went to several banks in NCR on Saturday to find out how the experience of senior citizens was in the wake of this move by the IBA.
