Mithilesh gave birth to her baby on the roads of Mathura district because the Ambulance could not reach on time. Despite multiple phone calls, the ambulance failed to reach Sonai village. 7-months pregnant Mithilesh was in extreme pain for hours before her family members decided to take her on a motorbike. On her way to the hospital, her pain accentuated and she had to deliver the baby right there on the road. People from the nearby village took her and the baby to the hospital. Both of them are safe now.

Such cases have become common in UP despite all the government promises to improve health facilities in the state.

A pregnant woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur city was allegedly asked to leave by the hospital staff in the middle of the night, following which she gave birth to a boy in an e-rickshaw in August this year.
