A tribal woman sold her eleven-day-old son to raise funds for the treatment of her ailing husband at Rangia Tilla of Haldia ADC village in West Tripura.

The father of the child, a daily-wage labourer, who has been ill for a long time, confessed that the child was given to a childless family for a sum.

I am very ill and so demanded financial help from the government for my treatment. I gave my child to someone and got Rs. 5000 for it. I request the government for help.
