Southwest Monsoon Hits Kerala and the Northeast Simultaneously

The Indian Meteorological Department had forecast that the southwest monsoon would hit two days before schedule.

The southwest monsoon rains arrived simultaneously in the southern tip of Kerala and northeastern states on Tuesday, as forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department.

While the rains are set to advance to all of Kerala within the next 24 hours, Cyclone Mora, which helped bring the monsoon early to the northeastern region, has hit the Bangladesh coast and is expected to bring heavy rains to the states of Assam, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, and Tripura.
