Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to poll-bound Gujarat today for the third time this month, where he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for a number of projects in Bhavnagar and Vadodara districts.

Modi inaugurated the first phase of the Rs 615-crore 'roll-on, roll-off (ro-ro)' ferry service between Ghogha in Bhavnagar district and Dahej in Bharuch in the Gulf of Cambay.

Dedicating the Rs 615-crore project to the people of Gujarat, Modi termed the ferry service a ‘unique, one-of-its-kind project’, which is also the biggest of its kind in South Asia.

He also announced that the project will bring the people of the state closer to each other, reducing the time taken to travel between Dahej and Ghogha from seven hours to a mere one hour.

After undertaking a journey to Dahej from Ghogha on the ferry, he will leave for Vadodara, where he is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for projects worth over Rs 1,140 crore.
