After the Supreme Court on Tuesday, 8 January reinstated Alok Verma as the CBI director, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said Verma was divested of his powers as he was probing the Rafale deal.
No one can save Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Rafale investigation and the entire nation will know “without a shadow of doubt” that he has taken Rs 30,000 crore of people's money and given it to his "friend" Anil Ambani, he said.
Shortly after Verma was sent on leave late in October, Gandhi had accused Modi of removing him in an attempt to stop the officer from probing into the Rafale "scam".
The government rejected the charges and said the two top CBI officers were sent on leave to protect the integrity of the premier investigating agency.
