1. Mamata Ends Dharna, Says Will Take Up Fight in Delhi Next Week
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday, 5 February, called off her dharna in Kolkata, saying it was a victory for the Constitution and democracy.
“The (Supreme) Court gave a positive judgment today. Next week, we will take up the issue in Delhi,” she said.
Earlier on Tuesday, a three-judge Supreme Court bench, hearing the CBI’s plea against Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar, directed him to appear before the agency in Shillong. The bench ordered Kumar to fully cooperate in the Saradha chit-fund scam investigation.

2. Now Back in India, Priyanka Gandhi Gears Up for Key Congress Meets
Priyanka Gandhi, Congress general secretary in-charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh, returned from abroad on Monday, 4 February, and met with Congress President Rahul Gandhi at his Tughlaq Road residence.
On Tuesday, a nameplate for Priyanka was put up outside a room allotted to her at the Congress headquarters in Delhi.

3. I Was Born to Do ‘Gully Boy,’ Says Ranveer Singh
Actor Ranveer Singh, who plays a street rapper in Gully Boy, says he was born to do the coming-of-age musical film.
Ranveer spoke at the trailer launch of Gully Boy along with his co-star Alia Bhatt, the film's director Zoya Akhtar and producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani here on Wednesday.
In the film, the Padmaavat actor plays a street rapper who dreams big.

4. ‘Will Initiate Appeal’: Mallya Responds to Extradition Approval
Fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya’s extradition to India was cleared by the UK Home Office on Monday, 4 February. The extradition case had been forwarded to Home Secretary Sajid Javid by the Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 10 December 2018, after over a year of deliberations to consider whether or not Mallya should be sent back to India.

5. How Telangana Cop Rema Rajeshwari Tamed WhatsApp Fake News
The summer of 2018 saw India being gripped by a hysteria generated on social media. In separate incidents, over thirty people across the country were brutally lynched – all on the basis of WhatsApp related rumours.
Jogulamba Gadwal district of Telangana, located about two hours away from the capital city of Hyderabad, too fell prey to such viral WhatsApp forwards. The viral video, dubbed in Telugu, cautioned the locals to beware of strangers and warned them of looming child kidnapping threats.
