Priya Patil, 1st Transgender Candidate to Contest BMC Elections

Priya Patil is the first transgender to contest for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.

"Ek chai do khaari, Priya Patil sabse bhari” chanted several transgenders who campaigned in support of Patil.

"There is a pressing need to change the way the people perceive the transgenders. I wish to voice the need of my community to the government” says Patil.

Priya Patil has filed her nomination from ward number 166 in Kurla West and would be contesting again Shiv Sena’s Manali Tulaskar.
