Taking a fresh jibe at the opposition parties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing a rally in Jaipur on Saturday called the Congress a party a bail-gadi (bullock cart) as a direct reference to several Congress leaders out on ‘bail’.
“Several Congress leaders are on bail, party is a bail-gaadi,” Modi said. His remarks came hours after Shashi Tharoor was earlier granted bail the Delhi Patiala House Court in the Sunanda Pushkar case.
The remarks were also indirectly hinted at Congress leaders, Sonia and Rahul Gandhi who are out on bail in the National Herald Case.
Further lashing Congress’ recently formed alliances, Modi added:
The PM arrived at Jaipur on Saturday to interact with beneficiaries of numerous central and state government schemes. His arrival also marked the inauguration of 13 urban infrastructural projects worth Rs 2,100 crore, crucial to BJP’s development in the state due to upcoming state election later this year.
Responding to Modi’s remarks, Congress leader RPN Singh told NDTV, “The PM who has brought farmers back to bail-gaadi in the age of the tractor speaks of corruption. Complaints against BJP ministers are not even inquired. When we come to power, it will be inquired (into), and they will not be on bail but in jail”.
