Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on 17 September, Monday, attacked Modi government and expressed confidence in stitching a strong alliance to oust the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2019 general elections.

‘Country Wants BJP Ousted’

“Not only the political parties but all the people in India want to oust BJP. I believe that in times to come, you will see a very efficient ‘Mahagathbandhan’.”

'When Will BJP Create Miracles?

Raising concerns on the current problems faced by the country, the former UP Chief Minister said:

“India is lagging behind on several fronts. Inflation is on the rise. Petrol and diesel prices are constantly rising. We want the BJP to be miraculous. We wish the BJP’s policies work such a wonder on the economy that the exchange rate of the rupee and dollar is reversed. When will the BJP do wonders like this?”

His statement came a day after Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati said that her party will only form an alliance if they get a fair share of seats.

"We will agree to alliance anywhere and in any election only when we get a fair share of seats, otherwise BSP will contest alone," she had said.
