Arpana Yadav, the wife of Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh’s younger son Prateek Yadav, is contesting the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections on a Samajwadi Party ticket.

Unlike Aparna, Prateek is known to keep away from all things political. However, this poll season, all eyes seem to be on him: specifically, on his new, blue Lamborghini Gallardo.

Critics of the Samajwadi Party have questioned Prateek’s decision to buy a car worth Rs 5 crore, and have alleged that the expense came out of the party treasury.

However, Prateek, who runs a fitness chain, has dismissed the reports. He told ANI that he had bought the luxury sports car on loan. He said he had worked hard to get the car and that he had paid all the taxes for the same.

“It would be too idealistic to expect him to be riding a cycle because that’s the party symbol,” Aparna had said in his defence.

Aparna had no reservations about the car, Prateek said, adding that he was looking forward to taking her for a spin in his car if she tasted electoral success.
