Meanwhile, fans in Taipei, Taiwan, took the celebration to another level. The organisers hosted a “May The Fourth Be With You” event at the country’s president’s office.

Chen Chien-jen, Vice-President of Taiwan, also took part in the celebrations.

I am now quoting Master Yoda, “Size, matters not.” So you can easily find out that Taiwan is greater than you imagine. Today is May 4th. For average people, today is just another day. But for all Star Wars fans around the world, today is the May the Fourth that must be celebrated. So let us celebrate. May the force be with you.

Some of the fans dressed as storm troopers and marched to the president’s office, not to invade it, but to salute the military police stationed their.

This shows Star Wars fans around the world that Taiwan is having the Star Wars Day event in the presidential office. Taiwan is a democratic country. What does that mean? It means that although we are from opposite sides, be it Galactic Empire or the Rebel Alliance, the most important is to unite and defend ourselves against a foreign enemy.

A not-so-subtle-dig at China? Well, Taipei, “May the force be with you.”
