Incessant rains in Maharashtra have led to various rivers like the Godavari swelling up and flooding the areas they flow through.

The Gangapur Dam was opened by authorities, but it only led to a worsening of the situation. Thousands were evacuated as 149 mm of rain was recorded in 9 hours in Nashik.

A British-era bridge that connects Mumbai to Goa collapsed due to flooding and Raj Thackrey has gone to the site to take stock of the increasingly grave situation.

So far, 85 people have been killed in India over the last few days due to rains and lightning.
