Until recently, getting a tattoo in Myanmar could land you in jail. However, since the fall of the military rule, things have changed in Myanmar.

National League for Democracy leader, Aung San Suu Kyi is widely credited for securing Myanmar’s independence from Britain. Her landslide victory in the November elections last year has increased the number of people wanting to get her image tattooed on their bodies.

However, some people in Myanmar till date look down upon those who get themselves inked. It is believed that only those with a bad character get tattoos.
