With four suspected terrorists being nabbed by the security agencies from Haridwar recently, a Madrassa in Roorkee has banned the use of social media and mobile phones to prevent extremism from spreading.

The Madrassa, Imamdul Islam, has imposed restrictions on the use of internet in its premises and put up pamphlets on its walls stating the same. The Imamdul Islam’s chief, Maulana Nawab Ali, has also urged the Madrassa’s faculty to exercise restraint on using the social media sites and urged the parents of the students to monitor their children’s internet usage.
