Kanpur Hospital Registers 6000 HIV Cases in Six Months

Doctors say patients do not run scared of confronting their HIV positive status anymore and actively seek treatment.

Around 6,000 HIV cases have been reported in the last six months in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur district. The sudden surge in the number of patients at the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial is due to growing awareness among people, who are coming for timely detection and treatment, say the doctors.

According to Dr. Chaman Kumar of the ART Clinic of the said Medical College, around 40-50 cases of people infected with HIV are registered every month.
