Back in 1998, riding high on his success as a liquor baron, Vijay Mallya spoke about Donald Trump, his love for women and his feelings towards his enemies.

Mallya had a candid chat on the show Bombay Chat, hosted by British-Indian Nikki Bedi.

When asked about how he feels on being compared to Donald Trump, Mallya said,

Well, I don’t know Mr Trump personally, I’ve read a lot about him. He obviously likes to live his life, as I indeed do... but not yet anywhere near bankruptcy.

Cut to 2016, Mallya is now struggling to raise money and liquidating his assets, including his private jet. Trump, on the other hand, is a Republican front-runner in the race to become the world’s most powerful man – President of the United States.
