No newspaper hit the stand for the third consecutive day in Kashmir. On 15 July, police carried out midnight raids in newspapers’ offices, seized printing materials and detained some of the staff. Such restrictions have been imposed in the valley in 1990s, 2008, 2010 and 2013.

Newspaper owners and editors have condemned the crackdown as an attack on democracy and people’s right to seek information. The Quint spoke to some of the editors of the well known local newspapers. Watch the video to find out what they have to say.
