Centre Moves SC After Uttarakhand HC Quashed President’s Rule
Centre is challenging the Uttarakhand High Court’s decision to quash the imposition of President’s rule in the state.
The central government on Friday, moved the Supreme Court against the High Court judgement that set aside the President’s Rule in Uttarakhand.
But due to the absence of the Chief Justice of India (CJI) TS Thakur, the Centre might just have to wait a little longer to get the apex court to intervene in the matter.
Appearing before a bench led by Justice Mishra, the Centre asked the Supreme Court to grant an urgent hearing to its plea but the apex court asked govt to get its petition numbered before registry.
Justice Misra said he would only ask the registry to place the Centre’s appeal before the CJI, who is the administrative head for deciding on listing of the cases.
Also, the disqualified MLAs have challenged the High Court’s decision to keep them out of voting during the floor test.
