Dev Lohar , a teen who proclaimed himself God, almost fooled his fellow-villagers into believing that he had the power to be buried underground and to return alive.

The incident happened at Pathartoli Village in Dibrugarh.

Dev and his family told people of the village  to bury him as it was God’s wish. He also convinced them that since he was God reincarnate, he will come out alive 72 hours after the  burial. Police ordered digging out of the buried teen and recovered him alive from the site at 12 pm. For twelve hours he was buried inside the 2 ft hole.

Police on Monday picked up six people in this connection and they were identified as- Dev Lohar, 18, Jit Nayak, 17, Ajay Munda, 22, Jogmoni Nayak, 20 and Krishna Lohar, 50. Dev Lohar told the reporters that Devi Mansha came to him in his dreams and told him to do such an act. Dev is a daily wage earner. He said that his uncle Krishna Lohar instructed him to carry out the stunt. The family planned to exploit the villagers’blind faith.

C.K. Boro, officer in charge of Dibrugarh police station confirmed that the medical examination of the teen showed he is in good health.
