Aamir Khan is known to be a perfectionist. He not only gets into the emotional skin of his character, but also makes sure that he looks right. And he goes to any extent to make it happen. This time for Thugs of Hindostan, we saw Aamir sporting a nose stud. When he was asked about it he said he designed the nose stud himself and he was sure about the look of Firangi.

He recalls, “When I was in second standard, there was a boy who had just joined school and when he walked into the class, all of us were zapped because he was wearing a nose pin. It was a stud, actually. We were kids, so we were fascinated — who is this kid wearing a nose stud? He was from Sindh. That thing had stuck in my head.”

When I heard the script of Thugs and I was working on Firangi’s character, I remembered that. I thought a nose stud for Firangi will be very apt. You know, it spices up the character.

So, he called that friend of his — and asked him if he has a childhood picture of himself wearing the nose stud. He looked for it but couldn't find it.

I wanted the same nose stud. I remembered after discussing with him that it was flower-shaped and it had stones — emerald and rubies — on it. Then I drew it out for the designers. So actually, I got it made.

Thugs of Hindostan is all set to hit theatres on 8 November.
