Xiaomi is set to launch its latest Redmi Y series phone in the Indian market on 24 April. The Redmi Y series, most likely to be called Redmi Y3 will form part of its selfie-centric range of devices that are priced under Rs 10,000 and competing with host of brands like Honor and Realme among others.

In terms of basic updates, we expect the Redmi Y3 to come with Android Pie version of MiUi out of box and screen dimensions matching up to the current standards (small bezels and notch at the top) being put in place.

The phone’s design cue is likely to be similar to the Redmi and Redmi Note series to some extent as well.

Speaking of the Redmi Y3, it will be the successor to the Redmi Y2 which had a 5.99-inch screen and thick bezels, and deemed too big to use with one hand. It had a polycarbonate body with a metallic paint job.

It was powered by a mid-range Snapdragon 625 processor with two RAM options – 3GB and 4GB. The Redmi Y3 is likely to get processor and RAM upgrades.

In terms of the camera, especially on the front (for selfies), this phone is expected to get a 32-megapixel sensor, one of the biggest, if it launches within the sub Rs 10,000 price bracket.

Other details will be revealed on the launch date, and we’re expecting the phone (with more variants) to cost up to Rs 11,000 in the market.
