WhatsApp have been unloading a lot of utility-based features and updates for its users and there’s another one that’s about to spawn which will supposedly bolster user privacy.
Just recently, the Facebook-owned messaging platform had introduced a feature that restricted non-contact users from adding individuals to random groups and now it has been found that another feature is on its way which will prevent others from downloading your profile pictures on WhatsApp.
The feature has been spotted in the beta version of the app by WABetainfo and might be rolled out with WhatsApp’s next update.
The feature was removed from WhatsApp's latest beta (version 2.19.60.26) for the iPhone just a few weeks after its removal from the Android beta.
If it legitimately wants to provide true privacy, WhatsApp needs to disable the ability to take screenshots as well as we’re hopeful that the team over at WhatsApp could offer that in the coming months.
