As Martin Guptill effected ‘the’ direct hit from fine leg crashing the stumps and a billion hopes, with Mahendra Singh Dhoni falling short by a couple of inches from the crease, fans noticed the legendary wicket-keeper batsman walk away with a grimace.

A sight indeed, as one would rarely see Captain Cool expressing emotions on the ground. Fans across the country and on social media could not help themselves but pour out their hearts to the man who has been their hero for the last 15 years.

Speculations that Dhoni might announce his retirement from international cricket after the World Cup meant that the emotions were even more pronounced.
