Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan on Tuesday, 9 October, extended his support to the Indian hockey team for the upcoming World Cup in Odisha. Cheering the Men in Blue to win the cup at home, SRK in a tweet said, “I wish you and our team the best. Hockey is the pride of India. We will cheer Chak De India!”.

Manpreet Singh, who will be leading India in the Asian Champions Trophy, had earlier tweeted to the actor saying, “Sir aap to hockey khel chuke ho. Kya aap Hockey World Cup ka hissa banoge? (Sir you have played hockey. Will you become a part of the Hockey World Cup?)

The Indian team are currently preparing for the Asian Champions Trophy, starting 18 October, which will give the team a last chance to test its bench-strength ahead of the men’s hockey World Cup in Bhubaneswar.

The fourteenth edition of the prestigious hockey competition is scheduled to take place from 28 November to 16 December.
