President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday hailed the victory of the Indian women's hockey team over China in the Asia Cup.

After full time, scores were levelled at 1-1. A brilliant save by goalkeeper Savita in a tense shootout helped India win the title after 13 years to qualify for next year’s World Cup.

The prime minister tweeted, "India is delighted by their stellar performance."

Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, PR Sreejesh, among others, also wished the team after their stellar win.
