Seasoned campaigner Shoaib Malik ensured with his last-over heroics that Pakistan were saved from blushes against Afghanistan in their Super Four match of the Asia Cup in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

Needing 10 runs in the last over, Pakistan were in a spot of bother after they lost wickets at regular interval towards the end. But Shoaib, who remained unbeaten on 51, made sure that he took Pakistan over the line against their neighbours to make a winning start to Super Four campaign.

After scoring no run off the first ball of the 50th over, Shoaib Malik dispatched the second ball, which was a slower one, to the stands and hit the next one for a boundary to bring the match to an end.

Not only on the field, Shoaib Malik became a hero and a great ambassador of the ‘Gentleman’s Game’ off the field too. After piling miseries on Afghanistan’s bowler Aftab Alam in the last over, Shoaib Malik made sure he was there to console him when the young lad broke down at the end of the match. Not only Shoaib, even Pakistan’s Hasan Ali was trying to cheer Aftab up.

Courtesy this gesture, Twitter users from all around the world couldn’t stop talking and praising Shoaib Malik. Here’s a look at how Twitter reacted:
