Coming into bat at number five with West Indies on 145 for 5 in the 29th over, Nicholas Pooran scored a 103-ball 118 to keep his side in the hunt against Sri Lanka on Monday, 1 July.

Till Pooran was at the crease, chances of winning the contest were tilted heavily on Windies’s favor. However, Angelo Mathews struck gold when he dismissed the left-hander off the very first ball of his spell.

West Indies ultimately lost the game by a 23 run margin when for a decent period of time, they had an upper hand on the game with Pooran at the wicket.

While both Sri Lanka and West Indies are out of running for a spot in the semis, Twitter was all praise for young Pooran who put together a great batting performance with his team chasing such a big score.

Here’s what they had to say on the left-hander’s knock which was surely one of the best in the World Cup.
