From Sachin to Bhajji: Cricket Fraternity Celebrate Mother’s Day

Before their first win, first defeat, first game, first ball, first challenge, first stand, before it all begins, every child who dreams to become a cricketer has one coach, physio, mentor, friend. One supports system that preserves the dream and ensures that it becomes a reality, their mother.

And 12 May marks a special day in every cricketer’s journey. Be it the universal boss from Kingston, Jamaica or be it a boy from Shivaji Park in Mumbai, whose name is synonymous to the game .

On Sunday, cricket fraternity took to social media to wish their biggest support system a Happy Mother’s Day.

Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar posted an image with his mother and wrote, "God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made Mothers."

Chennai Super Kings’ players Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh also thanked their mothers.

Raina and Harbhajan will feature in IPL final on Sunday as Chennai Super Kings face Mumbai Indians in Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.

India’s Test number 3 batsman, Cheteshwar Pujara also posted a childhood image with his mother on Instagram and wrote, “To my biggest motivation and inspiration. Whatever I am today is because you and your blessings. #HappyMothersDay ❤️.”

The global governing body of cricket, ICC posted a photo collage of cricketers from around the world with their mothers.

The IPL teams also didn’t back off from posting images of their players with their mothers.

IPL 2019 finalists, Mumbai Indians posted a video of their players that included veteran Indian all rounder, Yuvraj Singh alongside two young guns from the MI squad, Anukul Roy and Rasikh Salam.
