Cash Prizes Of Over 10 Crore To be Awarded To PV Sindhu For Rio

Three state governments along with All India Football Federation have all announced crash prizes which collectively amounts to 10.05 crore for silver medallist in Rio Games PV Sindhu on Saturday.

AIFF, Delhi Govt To Reward Champions

All India Football Federation President Praful Patel has congratulated ace shuttler PV Sindhu and wrestler Sakshi Malik for winning medals at the Rio Olympics and announced a cash award of Rs 5 lakh for them.

The Delhi government also on Saturday announced Rs 2 crore cash reward to Olympics silver medallist PV Sindhu and Rs 1 crore to bronze medallist Sakshi Malik. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia visited the parents of Sakshi in Haryana’s Rohtak in the morning and announced the award for both Olympians.

He also offered promotion for Sakshi’s father, Sukhbir Malik, who works as a bus conductor in Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).

The official said that Sisodia has also announced that Delhi government will also give Rs 4 crore each to those athletes who win gold medals in the Olympics.

AP Govt Too Acknowledge Feats

Andhra Pradesh government on Saturday too announced a slew of rewards, including a cash award of Rs 3 crore to shuttler P V Sindhu.

We will give her 1,000 sq yds of house site in the state’s new capital Amaravati and also a Group-1 officer post in the state government. She can choose the post she wants.
N Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister, Andhra Pradesh 

The state Cabinet, which met under Naidu’s chairmanship on Saturday, congratulated Sindhu on her inspiring win in the Olympics. “She brought an unprecedented honour to the country,” the chief minister remarked.

Sindhu, the two-time World championship bronze medallist, became the first Indian woman player to win a silver in the Olympics and fifth woman player from India to win a medal in Olympics.

Telangana Govt Too Joins In

Telangana government on Saturday also announced cash reward of Rs 5 crore to PV Sindhu.

After chairing a state cabinet meeting at Secretariat here, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said it has been decided to provide Rs 5 crore cash reward and 1,000 square yards of land to Sindhu. Besides KCR also offered the ace shuttler a government job, if she is willing to do.

There is a need to encourage sports personalities. Like Sania Mirza, who brought laurels by winning several tournaments after encouragement by the government, we hope Sindhu will also bring many laurels by winning many more tournaments in the future. She is coming to Hyderabad on 22 August. The Cabinet has decided to accord her a grand reception.

The Chief Minister also announced cash reward of Rs 1 crore to Sindhu’s coach P Gopichand and praised his efforts to produce shuttlers who are in the world top-50 like Saina Nehwal, P Kashyap and others.

Rao also said the Cabinet decided to give cash reward of Rs 1 crore to grappler Sakshi Malik, who won bronze at the Rio Olympics.
