India Win by 15 Runs
India looked like winning the match throughout the England innings when they were chasing a mammoth total of 381/6, but the Three Lions never gave up.
They kept losing wickets as regular intervals, but captain Eoin Morgan kept going and going until he was agonizingly run out at the non-striker’s end for 102 runs in the 49th over.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar successfully saved 22 runs in the last over to help India win the match by 15 runs and take an unassilable lead of 2-0 in the three-match ODI series.
Morgan Scores Hundred and Gets Run Out
Eoin Morgan’s fantastic innings of 102 runs came to an end unfortunately due to a silly error. Moragan gave a start after Bumrah delivered his ball, but Plunkett hit it straight back to Bumrah, who collected the ball and hit the stumps before Moragn could get back to the crease.
Morgan tried and tried but he just didn’t have enough support to help his team to go over the line.
England 22 more runs to win from six balls.
Bumrah Dismisses Woakes
Jasprit Bumrah seals the deal for India. Woakes tried to slam the ball on the leg-side but unfortunately missed it completely and got himself bowled for five runs.
England need 73 more runs to win from 30 balls.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar Gets the All-Important Wicket
Bhuvneshwar does it for India! Moeen Ali and Eoin Morgan were quietly going to steal the match away from India but Bhuvneshwar had other plans.
Ali misjudged the line of the ball and dragged a delivery onto his stumps and gets out for 55.
England need 82 runs to win from 37 balls.
Moeen Ali’s Quick Fifity
Moeen Ali is still keeping England’s hopes alive. He brings up his fourth ODI fifty in just 40 balls. The Three Lions were down and out at 206/5, but Ali and Morgan have have played sensibly since then.
Even though they have been batting at a decent rate, they will need to up the tempo, if they want to go on and win.
England need another 85 runs from 42 balls to win.
Morgan Scores Fifty
Wickets have been tumbling around the England captain Eoin Morgan, but he has not been affected by anything. Morgan has been taking singles regularly and found the occasional boundary.
Looks like Morgan is not going to give up until the end, but he will need someone to stay with him as well. At the moment, Moeen Ali is looking in good nick.
He has scored 30 runs off 24 balls.
England need another 130 runs from 12 overs.
Dhoni Stumps Buttler
Jos Buttler paid for stepping out against India’s premier off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. The delivery was bowled on the leg stump line and while Buttler tried to flick the ball, missed the ball completely and Dhoni calmly took off the bails behind the stumps.
England: 206/5 after 31.3 overs.
Ashwin Picks Up Another Wicket
Ashwin, who was a bit off colour in the first ODI, is bringing it on in this match. First, he dismissed Joe Root and now he gets Ben Stokes played on for just one run.
Stokes didn’t quite get to the pitch of the ball and dragged the delivery onto his stumps.
England’s wickets are falling like a pack of cards.
Jason Roy Bowled!
Just when it looked like Jason Roy is quietly going to take England home, Ravindra Jadeja bowled a quick straighter one, which Roy missed completely and got himself bowled for a well-made 82.
Suddenly England have two new batsmen at the crease – Morgan and Stokes.
England: 170/3 after 26.1 overs.
Root Falls to Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin has got the big fish – Joe Root, right after Root and Roy put up 100 runs together. Root tried to slog sweep Ashwin, but top-edged a high catch to the Indian captain Virat Kohli instead.
England need 254 more runs to win from 30 overs.
Root and Roy Notch Fifties
Joe Root and Jason Roy have played very cautiously and have reached their fifties at a strike rate of around hundred. They have not tried to play desperate shots and have moved along the England innings smoothly past 100.
Jason Roy is batting at 50 runs off 52 balls and Joe Root is at 53 runs off 53 balls.
Root and Roy Take England Past Fifty
After Alex Hales fell cheaply, Joe Root and Jason Roy have consolidated the innings beautifully. They have added 47 runs in just over eight overs.
Root and Roy are respecting the good balls and putting away the loose balls easily. Root is batting at 28 off 32 balls and Roy is batting at 25 off 29 balls.
England: 75/1 after 12 overs.
Bumrah Strikes
Virat Kohli decided to give the new ball to Jasprit Bumrah instead of Hardik Pandya this time and it has paid off straight away! Hales, who smashed three fours and 12 balls, nicked the ball through to MS Dhoni for 14 runs.
India are on their way.
England: 32/1 after 4 overs.
India Score 381/6 in 50 Overs
Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni scripted one of the best turnarounds in the history of the sport. India were tottering at 25/3 when Yuvraj and Dhoni got together.
But thereafter, Yuvraj and Dhoni batted with vengeance. While Dhoni began his innings with a very slow strike-rate, Yuvraj started finding the boundaries as soon as he walked into bat.
Yuvraj (150) and Dhoni (134) strung 256 runs runs and took the score to 281/4. Thereafter, cameos by Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja helped India post a daunting target of 381/6.
Plunkett Gets Dhoni
MS Dhoni went for another maximum but this time he was caught in the deep. The wicketkeeper-batsman tried to clear the square-leg boundary, but found Willey’s safe hands instead.
He hit 134 runs off 122 balls in his innings, which included 10 boundaries and six sixes.
India: 358/6 after 48 overs.
Jadhav Falls For 22
Kedar Jadhav falls to Liam Plunkett for just 22 runs after looping a simple catch to Jake Ball at mid-wicket. In the first ODI, Jadhav had come out to bat at 63/4, but in this match he just had to swing the bat around and he did just that.
Jadhav smashed three fours and a six during his innings, which lasted for 10 balls.
India: 323/5 after 46 overs.
Dhoni Scores Hundred as Yuvraj Falls For 150
MS Dhoni quietly went about his business at the other end when Yuvraj was going bonkers. The wicketkeeper-batsman ensured that he stole the cheaky singles and as he got close to his hundred, he smacked a big straight six.
Dhoni has sent the ball to the fence nine times and smacked three maximums.
But in the very next ball after Dhoni brought up his hundred, Yuvraj Singh nicked a delivery off Chris Woakes and got out for 150.
India: 281/4 after 43 overs.
Yuvraj and Dhoni Take India Past 250
In the last match, it was all about Virat Kohli and Kedar Jadhav, but in this match, Yuvraj and Dhoni have reminded us about the many wonderful partnerships they strung together in the past.
The duo have put on 243 runs so far and India are well on course of putting up a huge total on the board.
India: 268/3 after 41 overs.
Yuvraj Singh’s 14th ODI Hundred
Yuvraj Singh roared back to form with a magnificent century! Yuvraj, who reached his hundred in just 98 balls, has hit 15 boundaries and a six so far.
This is Yuvraj’s first ODI hundred in almost six years. The last time he reached the three-figure mark in ODIs was back in 2011. The left-hand batsman scored 113* against West Indies during the World Cup.
This is also Yuvraj’s first century after being diagnosed and recovering from lung cancer.
India: 190/3 after 33 overs.
Dhoni Scores 50
MS Dhoni started his innings very slowly but has picked up his strike-rate gradually as his innings has progressed. The former India captain has given Yuvraj the license to go for the big shots and Dhoni has been happy to play second fiddle.
The wicket-keeper has smacked six fours and six in his innings so far.
India: 167/3 after 30 overs.
Deja vu
Ten years ago, India cricket was taken forward by MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh and even now, as far as this match is concerned, Dhoni and Yuvraj are taking India to a competitive total.
They got together when India were in dire straits at 25/3, but thereafter, the famous pair have put on 131 runs together.
India: 156/3 after 29 overs.
50 For Yuvraj
Yuvraj Singh has looked comfortable at the crease right from the beginning of his innings. He has creamed eight boundaries so far in his innings of 50 from 56 balls.
India were tottering at 25/3 but now with Yuvraj’s confident innings and Dhoni’s cautious innings at the other end, India are getting ready to go past 100.
India: 95/3 after 21 overs.
Yuvraj Cracks Two Boundaries
Yuvraj Singh has looked in supreme touch since the time he walked into bat. India looked down and out at 25/3 but Yuvraj hasn’t let the situation to get to him and has been finding the boundaries with ease.
He took India past fifty with two excellent drives through the off-side off Liam Plunkett’s bowling in the eleventh over.
MS Dhoni at the other end is taking his time to settle down.

Woakes Strikes Thrice
Chris Woakes is on a roll! He has single-handedly dismissed India’s top order. First he got Rahul and Kohli caught at slip and then he forced Dhawan to drag a delivery onto his stumps.
Dhawan’s disappointing run continues as he goes back to the hut after scoring just 11 runs.
India: 25/3 after 5 overs.
Kohli Goes Too!
India’s captain Virat Kohli came in and smashed two boundaries straight away. But in the last ball of the third over, Kohli chased a full and wide delivery and nicked one to Ben Stokes, who took an excellent low catch at second slip.
India in deep trouble now, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni have to step up today.
India: 22/2 after 3 overs.
Rahul Falls to Woakes
KL Rahul goes for a low score yet again in the three-match ODI series. The Karnataka batsman smashed the first ball of the match for a boundary but in the third over, Chris Woakes forced the batsman to edge a delivery to Ben Stokes at second slip.
Rahul walks back to the pavilion for just five runs.
India: 14/1 after 2.1 overs.
England Win Toss, Elect to Bowl First
England’s captain Eoin Morgan has won the toss and elects to bowl first in the second ODI against India.
Liam Plunkett replaces Adil Rashid in the England team and Umesh Yadav makes way for Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the Indian team.

Welcome to the coverage of the second ODI between India and England from Cuttack. India pulled off a sensational win in the first ODI at Pune on Sunday to go 1-0 up in the series.
England, first posted a mammoth total of 350/7 and then Virat Kohli and Kedar Jadhav led India to a scintillating three-wicket victory with a 200-run partnership.
India were in dire straits when they were reduced to 63/4, but Kohli and Jadhav’s determined hundreds took India over the line.
England will be certainly raring to get back in the series. If India win the second ODI, then they will seal another three-match ODI series at home.
