Reports of a rift between captain Virat Kohli and former coach Anil Kumble were making the rounds throughout the Champions Trophy. However, both of them stayed mum until the end of the tournament.

After he stepped down as coach on 20 June, Kumble clearly stated that Kohli’s “reservations” with his coaching style were the reason behind his decision.

On the other hand, Kohli is yet to speak publicly about the rift, and is yet to respond as to what “reservations” Kumble was referring to.

In fact, before India’s Champions Trophy opener against Pakistan, Kohli dismissed all the reports, saying that “there are no problems whatsoever”. The entire episode was just “rumours” created by the media, he said.

But you know what they say – actions speak louder than words.

As it turns out, Kohli has deleted the tweet he posted on 23 June 2016, welcoming Anil Kumble to the team.

“Look forward to your tenure with us. Great things in story for Indian Cricket with you,” Kohli had then tweeted.
