While a film based on Dhoni’s life and a documentary on Sachin Tendulkar have hit theatres earlier, the dream that most cricket enthusiasts harboured - that of seeing Dada’s journey on the big screen - may soon become a reality. Thanks to Ekta Kapoor’s Alt Balaji, a subscription-based video on demand platform. The production house is planning a biopic, based on the book, A Century is not Enough.

“I have had a few discussions with Balaji, though nothing is final yet. I’ll have more details once we take this forward.”
Souran Ganguly

Co-authored by Ganguly the book covers the cricketer’s trajectory from Kolkata’s Biren Roy Road to the balcony at Lord’s and the Indian Premier League. According to The Indian Express ,sources suggest that the former Indian captain is elated about the project after a few rounds of talks. He is keen on a prominent Kolkata director helming the project while Ekta envisions a Mumbai director for the film.

If greenlit, it is set to be filmed in locations across the globe, including the unforgettable Lord’s balcony where the pivotal shirtless moment transpired.
