Mumbai Indians managed to stay alive in the tournament after defeating Kings XI Punjab by just 3 runs in a crucial Indian Premier League match on Wednesday, 16 May. Opener KL Rahul’s stunning 94 off 60 balls went in vain as KXIP could not chase Mumbai Indians’ total of 186/8.

But respecting the spirit of the game, Mumbai Indians all-rounder Hardik Pandya exchanged jerseys with Rahul in the ‘traditional’ football way at the Wankhede Stadium.

“Play hard, play fair! Respect comes first. Super knock, by a super player and an even better friend,” tweeted Hardik after the match. Reposting the same video on Twitter, KL Rahul said, “gutted with the result, but the game always wins”.

Defending champions set the visiting team a stiff target of 187 and then restricted Kings XI to 183/5 to register their sixth win in 13th games and take their tally to 12 points with one game in hand. Mumbai have jumped to the fourth spot in the table.
