Left-arm spinner Axar Patel was on Saturday ruled out of India's first three ODIs against Australia, starting here on Sunday, after spraining his left ankle during practice session, and Ravindra Jadeja has been named in his place.
Axar suffered the injury while playing football, and the BCCI said in a statement that he has been advised to rest.
"Axar sprained his left ankle during a practice session and has been advised rest. The BCCI medical team is monitoring his recovery," it added.
Jadeja did not figure in the original 16-member Indian squad for the first three ODIs, which was announced on 10 September.
The Indian team is without opener Shikhar Dhawan, who has been released from the original 16-man squad to attend to his ailing wife.
