India won the toss and elected to bowl against South Africa in the second T20I international in Mohali on Wednesday, 18 September.

“The surface is a bit dry. Any kind of dew in the second half on this ground, it's very difficult to defend. It's a great chasing ground and hence we're fielding first,” skipper Virat Kohli explained his decision to bowl first.

For India, KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Khaleel Ahmed and Rahul Chahar miss out. Meanwhile, Anrich Nortje, Bjorn Fortuin and Temba Bavuma will be making their debut for South Africa

The first T20I of the three-match series was abandoned due to rain even without the toss taking place in Dharamshala on Sunday, 15 September.

On the other hand, a young Proteas side led by Quinton de Kock, will look to leave behind their dismal performance in England in the World Cup and will look to come up with a new hope.

“Everything’s new at the moment for me - a lot more press conferences and interviews. It’s a new experience and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. Me, KG, Miller - we’ve played here a couple of times.”
Quinton de Kock, South African Captain

“Whatever we’ve learnt in the past years, we are just making sure that the youngsters are learning from us,” said Kock.
