After Mahendra Singh Dhoni stepped down as India’s captain from the shorter formats of the game on 5 January 2017, the one question everyone asked was for how long will the wicketkeeper-batsman continue to represent India in international cricket.

Some said the Champions Trophy in June 2017 could be the last tournament Mahi plays in Indian colours. Dhoni’s fans will be happy to know however that he has different plans.

"I can easily go beyond World Cup 2019,” MS Dhoni said when asked about the tournament, but he didn’t rule out the possibility of things changing in the next two years.

The crowd broke into loud applause at this, which also echoes how Indian cricket fans feel about the news.
